Katherine Caroline Nichol Degler, 103, of Lake Placid went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Palms of Sebring.  Katherine was born on December 29, 1915 in Canada to parents Tilly Flowers Kaufman and William Kaufman. Katherine has been a resident of Lake Placid since 1980 moving here from Miami.  She was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid. Katherine enjoyed working with ceramics, crafts, baby sitting her grandchildren and teaching Sunday school.  Katherine loved to be with family, friends, extended church family and especially her grand and great grandchildren. Katherine is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Bruce Frederick Nichol and second husband, Paul Degler, her loving son Jonathan Bruce Nichol, brothers Cyril and Edy Kaufman, sisters Lorna and Mildred. Kay is survived by her loving daughters; Sheila Weber/husband Doug,  Nancy LaFountain/husband, David, and Lorna Nichol. Known as Kay-Kay to her grandchildren, Johnny and Janet's children - Jason Nichol, Jennifer Bussey, Jessica Nichol, Jackie Nichol and Jeri Nichol, Sheila and Doug's son Danny Weber and Nancy and David's sons, Lyle, Ryan and Bret LaFountain. Great grandchildren - Jakob, Christopher, Katelyn, Logan, Jaylin, Avery, Dylan, Elijah, Jackson, Lyla, Caleb and soon to come into the world granddaughter.  Also survived by her loving sisster; Leona Korden, formerly of Sebring. A service to celebrate Katherine's life will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Alex Christian officiating.
