IN LOVING MEMORY OF
June (Mickey)
Audrey Blackmon
April 19, 1936 – October 11, 2024
June (Mickey) Audrey Blackmon, 88, of Lake Placid, went home to be with her Lord on October 11, 2024, at Advent Health Lake Wales Hospital. Born on April 19, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, June was the cherished daughter of Zona (Dale) and USMC Master Sergeant Clinton Lowthers.
A resident of Lake Placid for the past nine years, June moved here from North Carolina having previously called Denver, Colorado and Barstow, California home. She spent her career as a dedicated insurance claims processor, hairdresser, and care aide for assisted living. However, her true calling was found in the joy she spread to others through her humor, creativity, and love.
June was the light of our lives, blessed with an amazing sense of humor and sharp wit that could brighten even the darkest of days. Her laugh was contagious, and her ability to find humor in the ordinary was a gift to everyone who knew her. June's creative spirit shined brightly—she was crafty and generous, always working with her hands and her heart. Every Christmas, she lovingly made gifts for the infirmed, pouring thoughtfulness and compassion into every stitch and detail. Her quilting and crafting were not just hobbies but expressions of love that connected her to family, friends, and strangers alike.
A woman of deep faith, June attended Community Church of God, where she found community and purpose. She treasured time spent with her family and friends, always bringing joy to gatherings and creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
June was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell Glenn Blackmon and daughter Sharon Ford. She is survived by her devoted daughters, Sandra Blackmon and Shannon Mellinger, three grandchildren Amy, Steven, and Jennifer, and two great-grandchildren (Steven Jr Stambaugh and Sydney Stambaugh).
June will be laid to rest alongside Russell at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, reunited with the love of her life for eternity. Her legacy of laughter, love, and generosity will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate to know her.
