Dr. Julie A. (Gauss) Howenstine 54 Passed away on March 23, 2023. Julie was born in Rochester, MI on February 2 1969 to Dave and Patt Gauss.

In 1991 Julie earned her B.S. Degree in marketing from Oakland University in Rochester MI. After graduating, she made significant impacts in marketing for several fortune 500 companies including General Electric, PepsiCo, and Kellogg's.

During this time, Julie pursued and earned her MBA with a concentration in finance in 2002. In 2005 she made the decision to impart her knowledge to the next generation leaving the corporate world for higher education working for both Trine University (Angola IN) and University of St. Francis (Fort Wayne IN). While teaching full time, she decided to pursue her doctorate attending University of Toledo (Ohio). While finishing up her PHD studies Julies lifelong battle with diabetes demanded a organ transplant. After a successful operation she began her final step of defending her dissertation and publishing it.

In 2020 Julie decided to pursue another career, while still teaching graduate courses online for the University, she was hired by the United States Postal Services and relocated to Tennessee.

In 2001 Julie and Steven R Howenstine were married in Battle Creek MI, and have lived in Fort Wayne IN, Coldwater MI, Jackson TN, and Lake Placid FL. Julie was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt and step mother.

No funeral or memorial services are planned. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers, but requests that in Lieu of flowers or gifts perhaps a donation to your local animal shelter in Julie's name.
