Joyce "Joy" Frost Vavrosky, of Lake Placid, died peacefully at home on Saturday, July 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. The firstborn daughter of a farming family, Joy was raised on a small mountain homestead in Blount County, Alabama. After traveling to Homestead, Florida, at the age of 18, she met the love of her life. They were married in 1956, and eventually settled in the Naples/Bonita Springs, Florida, area in 1975, where she and her husband built two successful businesses and finished raising their four children. Being avid hobby fishermen for many years, they retired to Lake Placid, Florida, in 1997. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Roosevelt and Minnie (Davies) Frost; by her brothers: Denzil Frost, Joseph Frost, and Ted Frost; by her son, Kevin Vavrosky; and by her grandson, Anthony Du Mond. Joy is survived by her sister, Sandra (Frost) Metzler; by her daughters: Wanda Humphries, Rebecca Camper and Melissa Townsend; by her grandchildren: Erin Armstrong, Charles Humphries, Tyler Camper, Brittney Milligan and Trevor Camper; and by her great-grandchildren: Brennen Armstrong and Quinn Camper. Per her request, there will be no funeral; however, a Catholic Mass will be said for the happy repose of her soul and the family will hold a private graveside memorial in Alabama at a later date.
