Joyce E. Birdsill, 97, of Lake Placid, FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the Lake Placid Health and Rehabilitation Center. Joyce was born on August 18, 1928, in Denver, Colorado, and she was the daughter of Cora E. (Cripe) and Warren E. Birdsill. Joyce has been a resident of the Lake Placid area since 1977, moving here from Flint Michigan. She and her dear friends Charlotte McIntyre and Jean Heidelbach opened the Emmanuel Bible Book Shop in 1977 and ran it for 36 years until their retirement in 2014. Joyce was an active member of the South Oak First Baptist Church of Lake Placid. She enjoyed sharing her passion for Christian books and cards, and she loved to be with her family and friends. Joyce is preceded in death by her parents and loving sister, Wanda Dowdy and she is survived by her loving sisters, Ruth Moore, and Beulah Leuthold, several nieces and nephews and extended family members. A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, with Pastor Mike Ford officiating.
