Joseph E. Council, 85, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Thursday evening April 30, 2015 at the Lake Placid Health Care and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.

Joseph, who was born on November 12, 1929 in Tuskegee, AL, was the son of Sarah (Gunn) Council and John "Buck" Council and was a Baptist by faith. He served his country in the US Air Force. Mr. Council was a plumbing contractor in Miami and Pompano Beach, serving all of South Florida. Joseph was a Life Member (62 years) of the Allapattah Masonic Lodge 271 F&AM, 32nd Degree A&A Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Valley of Miami and the Miami Mahi Shrine. He enjoyed all outdoor activities including hiking, camping, fishing, boating, all water sports and most loved being with his family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Mary Ruth (Blanton) Council; daughter, Diane Council; sons, Joseph Council II (Sylvia), and James Council (Kathy); 3 grandchildren, Richard, Sean and Ryan; two sisters, Joyce Rucker and Cheryl Council and a brother Ronald Council.

Masonic Lodge will hold service at graveside to celebrate Mr. Council's life. Service to be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid. His brother-in-law, Dr. Kelly Blanton, will be officiating minister.
