John W. Wirick, III, 71, of Lake Placid passed away Friday morning February 26, 2010 at his residence. A native Floridian born in Miami on October 9, 1938 to parents Dorothy (Taylor) and John W. Wirick, Jr. He and his family moved to Lake Placid in 1952 and was a graduate of Lake Placid Senior High Class of 1957. Mr. Wirick co-owned the Leo Construction Company who built many homes in the different subdivisions of Lake Placid. He retired five years ago from the Highlands County School System as a construction manager. Mr. Wirick was active with the Lake Placid Art League, Lake Placid Masonic Lodge, and Highlands County Sheriff's Auxiliary and Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid. Mr. Wirick is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Mildred, daughters: Deborah Proctor, Rhonda Franklin and Bonnie Brown, son: John W. Wirick, IV, 15 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren and a brother: Daniel Wirick. The family will receive friends Sunday February 28, 2010 from 2 PM till 4 PM at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Monday March 1, 2010 at the Memorial United Methodist Church 500 Kent Avenue Lake Placid.
