John" Allan Donley
March 8, 1950 – October 17, 2022
John All a n Don le y, "Big John" of Lake Placid Florida , went home to be with the Lord on October 17,2022.
John was born on March 8 , 1950 in Coshocton Ohio to parents Willard and Doris Donley. He grew up in Newcomerstown, Ohio and attended Kings United Methodist Church . He later graduated from Indian Valley South High School class of 1968. John had many different jobs over the years. He started working at General Electric and ended up spen ding many of his working years for E nser Operations traveling across the United States , collecting stories along the way. He later became a truck driver before retiring to be a full-time grandpa to Kayln "Little Red" and Tyler Baker . John was a resident of Lake Placid for over 35 years and was married to his wife Barbara Ann Donley for 31 years. John spent many years working at the Bowling Center in Lake Placid and was also a long-time member of the Elks , Moose, and the VFW.
John is preceded in death by his parents: Willard Donley and Doris Donley (Rennard) as well as his great granddaughter Graclynn Rose. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Donley (Bickle); brothers Phillip Donley (Madeline), Thomas Donley (Shelly), and Timothy Donley (Pam) ; children Randee Baker, Jennifer Wenger , Dixie Allman (Michael), Michelle McHenry, and Larry Sturtz (Heather); grandchildren Kayln Baker, James Tyler Baker, Ambur Wenger, Dusty Wenger, Cheyene Untied, Erin Dilly, Faith Untied, and Amanda Wilbur; As well as many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and ones that he adopted along the way.
John spent all his 72 years on this earth making people laugh. He spent many years installing humor into his children and grandchildren , though the jokes weren't al ways mom approved they were all in good fun . He was a story teller, friend, and had the biggest heart. He will be missed by his family that meant so much to him as well as many in the community. Services will be held on October 27, 2022 at First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid 118 N. Oak Avenue at 6 pm with Pastor Drew Severance Officiating.
