John Wayne Hicks, 74, of Venus, FL went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his residence. John was born on December 14, 1951, in Henderson, Kentucky, and he was the son of Betty Jean (Sandefur) and John “Jack” William Hicks. He served his country with honors in the United States Navy. He has been a resident of Venus for the past ten years, moving here from Bartow, Florida. John then went to work as a mechanic in the air conditioning industry, working his way up as the Director of Engineering at the Bartow Regional Medical Center until his retirement. John was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Lake Placid Moose Lodge, VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing at the local lakes, and hunting. John loved to be with his family and friends whenever they could get together. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Victoria Brodwater Hicks, and son, Matthew Broni Hicks and brother Joseph Anthony Hicks. John is survived by his loving daughter, Megan Reagan and son-in-law James Reagan, sister-in-law, Marion E. Barrett and six grandchildren, Cameron A. Edwards-Reagan, Bailey J. Edwards-Reagan and Sophia M. Hicks, Dori Reagan, Brett Reagan and Jammer Reagan. A service to celebrate John’s life will be held at a later date at Lake Placid Moose Lodge #2347, 2137 US 27, Lake Placid, FL.
