John William Heringa, 73, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He was born on November 27, 1939 in Chicago, IL to parents Ella (Mulder) and Bernard Heringa. He is survived by loving wife of 43 years Donna; daughter, Marcia Heringa Page (Richard); grandsons, Jacob and Joseph of Athens, GA; and a sister, Judith Heringa of Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Heringa received his B.A. in accounting from MSU in 1964. In 1970 he fulfilled requirements and was granted a certified public account certificate. He retired in 2001 and shortly thereafter moved to Lake Placid, FL from Grand Rapids, MI. Mr. Heringa loved spending time with his family and friends, to travel and go camping. John enjoyed reading, watching old movies, boating, fishing, golf and as a young man he loved downhill and cross country skiing. A service to celebrate John's life will be held 11:00 AM this Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Rev. Richard A. Norris officiating.
