Edmondson
December 11, 1941 – December 13, 2025
John Charles Edmondson was born on Dec. 11, 1941 in Miami, Florida. He was the son of Martha (Lyne) and Kyle Edmondson. He grew up in Miami, was an Eagle Scout and graduated from Miami Senior High.. After his time at University of Florida he returned to Miami and worked at AT&T for almost 30 years until his retirement in 1989. During that time he served in the US Army Reserves for 7 years. He met his beautiful wife Penny in 1962 while she worked in the same building for Southern Bell Telephone. They married in November 1963 and celebrated their 62nd anniversary this past November.
John began visiting Lake Placid as a teenager on Scout outings. He continued coming up from Miami as an adult to waterski the many lakes of Lake Placid. In the early 1980's he and Penny bought a condo on Lake Grassy. They spent many weekends and summers there with their sons David and Donald.
After their retirement they moved to Lake Placid full time and built a beautiful family home on the north end of Lake Grassy. He loved to travel with family and friends, loved bowling (he had 2 "Perfect 300 Games") and loved listening to country music (he had over 3000 CDs & albums in his extensive collection).
He is survived by his loving wife Penny, his sons David and Donald, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister Lynn Waldon and her husband Tom and their daughter Melissa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sandra Short. He was a beloved Uncle to her daughter Bobbi Lee Baxter and her children.
