Joel Edward Metts went to our Lord Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born on July 21, 1930 in Elco, South Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents, father Joel Allen Metts and Mother Lillian Smith, brother, Wallis Cone Metts, and his beloved Barbara Shields, he is survived by his sons, Michael Metts of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Tom Metts of Seoul, South Korea, brother, Ronald F. Metts (Gail) of Titusville, FL, sisters, Nancy M. Lowe (Jon) and Juanita M. Brisson (Gene), Naples, Florida, 17 nieces and nephews and many cousins in Naples, FL and Augusta, GA. Joel served in the Army Air Corps, and had a passion for fishing and boating. Joel was a licensed contractor for over 54 years, Three of his many accomplishments include the Captain's Table, Everglades City, The Cove Inn and Tin City in Naples, FL. Funeral services are to be held at Faith Baptist Church of Lake Placid, 660 Holmes Ave, Lake Placid. Viewing is to be held at 10:00 am on Friday May 16, and Services will be at 11:00. Military Honors will be presented by the VFW Post 4300 Honor Guard. Internment will be at the Sarasota National Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, Florida at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the V A.'s Fisher House.
