Joanne Marie Croniser, 92, of Lake Placid Florida, passed away peacefully in Lake Placid on July 3, 2024. Joanne was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on June, 13, 1932 to Rosa and Ernesto Varally. She attended Dennison High School, received her Bachelor's from Kent State University, and her Master's from Nova University. Joanne married Robert Croniser in 1950, and together they had one child, Karen. As a couple, they loved to travel! Joanne dedicated her career to teaching elementary students. Joanne was especially instrumental in securing Apple computers for the first computer lab and establishing a Talented & Gifted program at Floranada Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Retirement did not slow Joanne down in the least! She volunteered at Lake Placid Elementary and with the Highlands County Republican Party. Further, she became the first woman to hold the office of President within the Lake Placid Elks Lodge and also enjoyed activities with the American Legion. Joanne is survived by grandchildren Kim Dewey (Maria "Maru") and Donnie Dewey (Alana), two great grandchildren, Eli and Emmett Dewey, and son-in-law, Don Dewey. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert and her daughter, Karen. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your favorite charity in remembrance of Joanne.
