Joan J. McColley, 86, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening October 6, 2010 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. She was born on August 9, 1924 in Detroit, MI to parents Paul and Josephine (Fix) Vezinaw. She married Clare V. McColley in 1949 and started their family in St. Clair Shores, MI, later moving to New Baltimore. After their children were grown they became snow birds spending time in Rose City, MI during the summer and Cudjoe Key during the winter. She moved to Lake Placid in 2000. Mrs. McColley was a homemaker, who enjoyed camping, traveling with family, and knitting and loved a good laugh and was a member of the St. James Catholic Church. Mrs. McColley is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years Clare, and is survived by her loving children; Bryan McColley, Brenda Parenteau, Beta Schweiger, Beth McColley and Blythe McColley, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Mrs. McColley will live on with us in gardening, crafts, love of animals and the great outdoors. Inurnment services celebrating Mrs. McColley's life will be held next spring in Gladwin, MI where she will be reunited with Clare.
