Joan Isabelle Gardner, 98, of Lake Placid, FL went home to be with her Lord on October 24, 2025, at her residence. Joan was born on March 27, 1927, in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Nina (Garley) and Clifton Mitchell. Joan has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2020, moving here from Bay Port, Michigan. She was a retired seamstress/tailor from JCPenny and bookkeeper in St. Joesph, Michigan. Joan was a proud owner of one of the first VW convertible beetles in Michigan. Joan was of the Christian faith who enjoyed going out west looking for rocks and gemstones to cut and add to her custom jewelry. Joan also spent time camping with family, canoeing, and going to rock and gem shows in the Eastern Midwest states. In her late teens, early twenties Joan enjoyed down-hill skiing with her friends. Joan is survived by her children, Lucinda Thompson (Tracy), Charla Gardner (Stan), Mitchell Gardner (Helen), four grandchildren (Tiffany Bryan, Mitchell II, Mani Gardner, Avery Hall, and Liam Hall) and four great-grandchildren (Emily Bryan, Dawson Hall, Beau Hall, and Jace Hall).
