Jessie M. Pate, 82, of Lake Placid went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at her residence.

Jessie was born on July 19, 1941, in Elk City, Oklahoma, to Susie and Nathanial King. She married her husband Charles J. Pate, Jr. on April 21, 1961. As an Air Force spouse she was supportive and embraced the military lifestyle, with tours of duty to Oklahoma, Japan, Florida, and Alaska.

She was a retired purchasing agent with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks where she had worked for many years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, reading and spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.

Jessie has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 28 years after moving here from Fairbanks, Alaska.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles J. Pate Jr., daughter; Carrie Pate, son; Richard Pate, and grandchildren; Jessie, Angelo, Antonio, Andretti, and a sister; Ossie Gibson.

A Baptist graveside service to celebrate Jessie's life will be held 12:30 PM, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL, with Pastor Bill Bailey officiating.
