James Thomas "Tommy" McDonald, 77, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at his residence.  Tommy was a native Floridian who was born on July 12, 1947, in Miami.  He was the son of Eleanor (Murray) and Henry McDonald.   Tommy served his country with honors in the United States Navy during Vietnam.  After serving his county, Tommy went to work for Delta Airlines, where he retired from after many years of service as a customer service agent.  He has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2004, moving here from Homestead, FL. Tommy was of the Nazarene faith who enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling, woodworking and collecting coins.  Tommy loved to be with his family and friends whenever they could get together, especially with his two grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his loving daughter, Kara McDonald and he is survived by his loving son; Ryan McDonald (Jessica), two grandchildren; Kylene and Dean, and a sister; Connie Bowman (Warren).  Tommy will be laid to rest at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with military honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard.
