Dr. James Aubrey Summers, DVM, a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on March 6, 1943. He lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady kindness, and deep love for those closest to him. James was married to Paulette Cassel Summers, his beloved wife, since April 12, 2012. He was father to Craig Summers and Scott Summers; a brother to Lucy Summers Banhart and J. O. "Marc" (Marilyn) Summers. James is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Lucylle Downtain Summers; his first wife, Patricia Summers; his brother-in-law, Bud Banhart; his nephew, Jay Banhart; and his in-laws, Glenn and Barbara Cassel. James was a graduate of the Oklahoma State University class of 1968 School of Veterinary Medicine. James was a former veterinarian for the Pennsylvania Racing Commission for thirty-five years. A man of quiet dignity and unwavering loyalty, James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family will celebrate James's life privately.
