James O. Lewis, 82, of Lake Placid, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening November 23, 2021, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. James was born on March 8, 1939, in Lakeland, FL and was the son of the late Pearlie (nee Johnson) and
J.L. Lewis. James has been a resident of Lake Placid for most of his adult life. He was the owner and operator of Lewis Well Drilling. James was of the Christian faith. He had a passion for being a cowboy and put together a rodeo fundraiser to raise funds for the Advent Health Lake Placid Hospital formally known as the Florida Hospital. James enjoyed fishing, hunting, his music, and singing in a band. He lived and loved life to the
fullest, being with family and friends any time they could get together. James is preceded in death by the love of his life of 34 years Donna; two sisters Margie Fletcher and Barbara Edgemon; five brothers Dan, Don, Jack, Ronnie, and David Smith. James is survived by his loving daughter Donja Roberts (Jimmie), two grandsons Heith "Buckshot" Roberts (Trish) and Ethan "Birdshot" Roberts (Katie); three great-grandsons; Layne "Hotshot", Korbin "Boss Man", Easton "Slingshot"; a sister Ronda Whitehead; and son Billy Atterberry, extended family members Gene Lowder, Gary Jowers Jr., Garrett Meredith, and Buddy Sanders. A service to celebrate James' life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 27, 2021, at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Lonnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid.
