James Michael Conner, "Mike" 56, of Lake Placid, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, August 15, 2025, and went home to be with his Lord.

A proud native Floridian, Mike was born in Frostproof on September 4, 1968, to Ms. Joyce "Dale" Latham. He had been a longtime resident of Highlands County, where he built a life rooted in service and hard work.

Mike honorably served his country in the Army National Guard and was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm. Following his military service, he worked for the Department of Corrections and retired as a correctional officer from the Avon Park facility.

For the last year, Mike attended Grace Bible Church in Sebring, where he found fellowship and faith. He had a lifelong love for motorcycles—riding them, working on them, and spending countless hours in the garage repairing just about anything. He also had a deep affection for animals, especially his beloved French bulldogs.

Mike is survived by his loving son, Zachary Conner 24, of Sebring; as well as three half-brothers and one half-sister.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date.
