Obituary

Jack Edward DeVane, Jr., 63, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord Sunday morning September 25, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at his residence. A native Floridian Mr. DeVane was born on August 26, 1948 in Gainesville, FL. to parents Jack and Dorothy (Williams) DeVane. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. Mr. DeVane moved to Lake Placid in the 1970's from San Bernardino, CA. and was a retired rancher in the family cattle business. A member of the American Legion Placid Post 25, Lake Placid VFW Post 3880, the 40 and 8's, Lake Placid Moose Lodge 2374 and the Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities as well as a good game of pool. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Mr. DeVane is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Penny, daughters; Mrs. Casey James (Jeremy) and Lindsay Albanese (Chris) and granddaughter; Casey Albanese and grandson; Drew Albanese. A service to celebrate Mr. DeVane's life will be held 11 AM Wednesday September 28, 2011 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid with pastor Lonnie Wells celebrating. Graveside Military honors provided by the VFW Post 4300 will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
