Howard H. Witte, 87 of Sebring, FL went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2023 while surrounded by his loving family. Howard (Pops) was born on May 16, 1936 in Hammond, Indiana and was the son of Josephine (Stupeck) and Herman J. Witte. Howard is preceded in death by younger brothers John and Richard. Howard served his country with honors in the United States Air Force. After being discharged, Howard worked for the Department of Defense where he retired after many years of service. Howard and Nancy (wife) have been winter residents of Highlands County for 25 years moving here from Terra Alta, West Virginia 12 years ago.  Howard was an active member of the Union Congregational Church in Avon Park.  In his younger years, Pops was the neighborhood DIY'er, eager to help all those in need of a helping hand. Howard enjoyed a great round of golf and the company of family and friends. Howard is survived by the love of his life of 65 years Nancy (Griffiths), cherished father of daughter; Susan McDonald (Jay), sons; David Witte and Jeffrey Witte (Sandy), loving grandfather of Matthew McDonald (Nicole), granddaughter Catherine McDonald, and great grandson Brayden McDonald. Howard was an uncle to many nieces and nephews and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A service to celebrate Howard's life will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 14th 2023 at Union Congregational Church, 106 Butler Avenue Avon Park, FL 33825.
