Herbert Joseph Phelan "Herb", 76, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at his residence.  Herb was the son of Mary (Young) and Herbert W. Phelan, who was born on February 15, 1943, in Boston, Massachusetts. Herb was a retired police motorcycle officer with fifteen years of service with the North Miami Police Department.  After retiring, Herb moved to Lake Placid from Davie in 1987. Herb had a passion for bowling and was the manager of the Lake Placid bowling lanes. Herb was a past president of the Lake Placid Morning Rotary Club, the FOP, Golden Wing Riders and was of the Christian faith.  Herb enjoyed riding his motor cycle and bowling. He loved to be with his family and friends any time they could be together especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Herb is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Betty, daughters; Diana Bretz and Susan Morgan (Wayne), 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  In keeping with Herb's wishes services to celebrate his life were private for the family.
