Helen Grace Butcher, known to her family as "Hattie", 97 of Lake Placid, Florida passed away at home on Sunday, August 3, 2025. Helen was born in her home on August 11, 1927 in Logan, West Virginia to the late Nathan and Mary Smith.  In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband Frank Butcher, brothers James Smith, George Smith and sister Elizabeth Stepp.
Helen married Frank on December 29, 1949 and assumed the role of homemaker. Helen was an amazing cook and enjoyed entertaining family and friends. After Frank's passing, Helen was determined to learn to drive. At seventy-five, she received her first drivers license and was seen driving around where she volunteered and worshiped at her church, The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints in Sebring as well as volunteering for The Chamber of Commerce in Lake Placid.
Those left to cherish her memory include her brother, Nathan (Pete) Smith, sister in law Karen Smith, many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Helen was respected, admired and adored by everyone she came in contact with and will be sorely missed.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., in-state from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints, 3235 Grand Prix Dr., Sebring, Florida.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  at Scott Funeral Home, 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid, Florida.
