TOWNER, Harold Christopher, 88, of Lake Placid, Fla passed away in his home on March 12, 2024. He was the only son of Veyrl E. & Leona E. (Fox) Towner, both pre-deceased. Harold was born on May 29, 1935 in Bath, NY. Harold was also predeceased by his wife, Carol Ann (Pierce) Towner. He is survived by his daughter Tracia Lynn Towner, and son Christopher John (Karen) Towner. Harold has nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Harold was an Air Force veteran, upon returning from service he worked as an automotive mechanic for several years at various automotive dealerships in the Hornell area. This vocation led him to the NYSDOT as a heavy equipment mechanic and ultimately finishing his career as a public transportation motor vehicle inspector. Upon retiring, he moved to Lake Placid Florida where he worked part-time in the printing industry for many years. Harold was known as "Cowboy" in the Lake Placid area at the various establishments he frequented. He was quick to start up a conversation with anyone he  encountered, especially over a cold beverage. He was an avid firearms enthusiast, and collector of  Budweiser Steins and pocket knives. In keeping with the "Cowboy's" wishes, there will be no service or calling hours.
