Gordon E. "Gordie" Spade, 89, of Lake Placid passed away Tuesday September 14, 2010 at his residence. He was born on April 17, 1921 in Geneva, OH to parents Edward and Ruth (Goodell) Spade. He served in the US Army during WWII, in the Pacific Theater as an Army Medic. Gordie moved to Lake Placid in 1982 from Geneva after retiring from the Ohio Water Company. He was a member of the American Legion Placid Post 25, VFW Post 3880, Am Vets, and Lake Placid Elks Lodge 2661 and was of the Christian Faith. Mr. Spade is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Dorothy along with his three sons; Gary, Edward and Dale. He is survived by his loving sister; Doris Kuhar (Raymond) of Geneva, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Gordie will be laid to rest along side his wife Dorothy at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. There will be no local services.
