Obituary

Gilbert Douglas Palmiter, 86, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning January 5, 2014 at his residence. He was born on July 7, 1927 in Bedford, MI. Gilbert served his country in the US Army during WWII serving with the 49th General Hospital in Japan as a laboratory technician. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Gilbert became an engineer retiring from Clark Equipment. He moved to Bradenton from Michigan then to Lake Placid in 1998. Gilbert enjoyed scouting in his youth and was promoted to the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He was of the Christian faith. Mr. Palmiter is survived by his Life Partner, Vickie Braden; sons, Carl Palmiter (Pamela) and Alan Palmiter; 5 grandchildren and a sister Leolyn Gerber. Funeral services with military honors to celebrate Gilbert's life will take place later this week in Battle Creek, MI. Interment will take place at the Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
