Obituary

Frederick S. Holmes, 74, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Sunday morning February 12, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 5, 1937 in Hackensack, NJ to parents Charles C. Anna (Kay) Holmes. He served his country for seven years in the US Army Reserves. He moved to Lake Placid 38 years ago from Richfield Park, NJ and was a retired lineman working with Florida Power and later with Florida Power and Light. He served as a volunteer firefighter both in New Jersey and was the first Fire Chief with the Placid Lakes Volunteer Fire Department Mr. Holmes was of the Christian Faith, who, enjoyed boating, fishing, flying as a private pilot and loved social events with his family and friends as well as spending time woodworking making toys and games for his grandchildren. Frederick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Elaine, sons; Frederick Jr., and Daniel Holmes (Lisa), 3 grandchildren; Constance Doty (Jim), Daniel Jr., and Melissa Pearce (Cole) and 3 great-grandchildren Eli, Garrett and Briley. A visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon Thursday February 16, 2012 with a service to celebrate Mr. Holmes life beginning at 11:00 AM at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Ft. Michael Cannon celebrating. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in Mr. Holmes memory be made to the American Cancer Society Winn-Dixie Hope Lodge 2121 SW 16th Street Gainesville, FL 32608.
