Freda Emogene "Gene" Mitchell, 83, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Tuesday evening October 27, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on July 13, 1932 in Acme, WV to parents Tom Moody and Hattie M. Stinnett. Gene was a retired personnel secretary and buyer for the Kroger Grocery chain. She moved to Lake Placid 25 years ago from Maryland and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Mitchell was active in several civic clubs. Gene enjoyed a good game of bridge, golf, tennis and had a passion for dancing. She loved to be with her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Carl; sister, Margaret Rhodes (James); brother, Rev. Lawrence Edward Moody and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Gene's life will be held 12 Noon, Friday October 30, 2015 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid with Chaplain Scott McLean officiating. A gathering for family and friends to visit will be held one hour prior to service time.
