Floyd Steven Smith, 81, Lake Placid, ended his earthly life journey peacefully on December 14, 2025, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, FL.

Floyd was born in Mt. Vernon, Illinois on September 4, 1944. He was the son of the late Claude and Mildred Smith. He has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2006 and was a weekend resident for twenty years before moving permanently from Plantation, FL. Floyd retired from the Broward County School System where he worked for many years in the cafeteria maintenance division. He was Baptist by faith. Floyd enjoyed being outdoors, boating and camping and tinkering around the house, fixing anything that was broken. He loved to be with his family and friends whenever they could get together.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 36 ½ years, Barbara, and three children and their spouses; Matthew (Sheila) Smith, Shelly (Jay) Nolan, and Mark (Krissy) Smith and two grandchildren (Amanda and Raelin) and one great grandson (Arden John) and a brother Mike Smith.

In keeping with Floyd's wishes, the family will celebrate his life in private.
