Ervin Adams, 88, went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving family on May 31, 2024 at 5:45 a.m. Ervin was born in Webster City, Iowa on April 2, 1936 to Mildred McFarland and Truey Adams. He attended high school in Webster City, graduating in 1954. He was a veteran of the Korean War and was trained on fighter jets at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. He was a barber in Minnesota, Michigan and Sebring for a total of 39 years. It was said that his 10-minute haircuts would turn into a 30-minute fishing event. He was a great storyteller, golfer and fisherman; he tied his own jigs for over 60 years.
Ervin met the love of his life, Beverly J. Adams, while he was serving at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, which is near West Branch, Michigan and they were married on Oct. 10, 1959. Erv and Bev raised two children while living in Minnesota and Michigan, Stuart (Skip) Adams and Jodi Adams Turner. He also has two granddaughters, Brittany (Bebe) Turner and McKenzie Liskey.
In 1979, Erv and Bev moved to Sebring where he continued to be a barber for several years. They were lifetime members of the Airstream Club and traveled all over North America sharing countless adventures and great times together.
Ervin is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred McFarland and Truey Adams; his beloved grandson, Chad Adams; brothers, Edwin Adams (Ginny), Donald Adams (Fran), and Larry (Uncle Sam) (Helen) Adams; sisters, Martha Prunty (Malcolm), Mary Arduser (Ken), Margaret Bailey (Forest), and Beverly Marker (Darwin) (Carroll). He is survived by an extended family of nephews and nieces, Beverly's brothers that reside in Michigan, and sister Beverly's husband, Carroll Hallagan.
In keeping with Ervin's wishes the services were private. Condolences to the family may be offered on Scott Funeral Home of Lake Placid's website, www.scottfuneralservices.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to M.S.U.D. Foundation in memory of Ervin's grandson, Chad Ervin Adams, at Dave Bulcher M.S.U.D.
