Eloise Rae Leonard, 91, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Friday morning April 12, 2013 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Sebring. A native Miamian, Eloise was born on August 16, 1921 to parents Lula Mae (Overall) and Raymond Russell. She taught home economics at Miami-Dade Community College and Lindsey-Hopkins Education Center, Miami, FL. Eloise was a judge in the Mrs. America Contest held in Orlando in the 60's as well as a graduate of the Cordon Bleu Cooking of Paris, France. She enjoyed cooking, teaching crafts at the Lake Placid Caladium Arts and Crafts store and entertaining her family and friends. She moved to Lake Placid from Miami in 1974 and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene Lake Placid. Mrs. Leonard is survived by her loving husband of 73 years Frank; daughters, Sue Rosendall of Venus, FL, Karen Leonard-Rubin of CA; son, Ken Leonard of CA; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Creasmen. A funeral service to celebrate Eloise's life will be held 1:00 PM Monday April 15, 2013 at the Church of the Nazarene Lake Placid 512 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Dr. David Nixon officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment at Oak Hill cemetery will follow services.
