Eldon D. Phelps, 86, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Saturday evening January 14, 2012 at the Florida Hospital Lake Placid. He was born on November 30, 1925 in Somerset, KY to parents Luther and Jeanette (Alexander) Phelps. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII serving on the USS Cleveland. A retired supervisor in the plastic lamination industry he moved to Lake Placid 24 years ago from Ohio. Mr. Phelps enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Lake Placid. Mr. Phelps is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy, sons; Dan Phelps and Michael Phelps, 4 grandchildren; Andy Phelps, Steve Bucklin, Krista and Ryan Phelps, 2 great grandchildren; Emma and Klan Phelps, 2 sisters; Jessie Sprinkles and Wilma Jean McKenzie and a brother Clemon Phelps. Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Phelps life will began 11 AM Thursday January 19, 2012 at the Faith Baptist Church 660 Holmes Road, Lake Placid with Pastor Bill Cole celebrating. A gathering for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. The family suggest donations be made in Mr. Phelps memory to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.
