Edward K. Schnepf, 94, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Wednesday morning March 27, 2013 at his home in Tomoka Heights. Ed was born on April 20, 1918 in West New York, NJ and grew up in Cliffside Park, NJ. He played the trombone in the Cliffside Park High school band and later moved to New City in Rockland County, New York. During WWII he was employed at the Wright Aeronautical in Patterson, NJ assembling aircraft engines for the military. After the war he worked in construction as a skilled mason. In 1963 he moved to Pass-a-Grill, FL in Pinellas County where he met his future bride, Helen Harding Haynes, whom he married on April 11, 1964. They moved to a 40 acre farm near Wauchula, FL in 1983 and raised cattle and enjoyed life. In 1987 they moved to Lake Placid, FL where they built a house in the Oak Island community. They later built a home in Tomoka Heights, Lake Placid where his wife passed away in 2006. For many years, Ed was an accomplished organist and entertained family and friends on many occasions. Ed is survived by his sister and brother in law, Katherine and Scharf Turner; sister in law, Annadalle Blum and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Ed's life will be held 11:00 AM Monday April 1, 2013 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd. Lake Placid with Rev. Jerry McCauley officiating.
