Edson Randy
Wolfcale
Jun 10, 1953 — Jun 3, 2026
Edson R. “Randy” Wolfcale, 72, of Lake Placid, FL went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. Randy was a native Floridian who was born in Miami on June 10, 1953. He was the son of Loretta Teresa (Hogan) and Edson Wolfcale. From the age of 9 years old he spent summers on Lake Blue then Lake Francis fishing and boating. At 12 years old Randy caught a 34-pound catfish in Lake Blue and his picture was in the Lake Placid Journal. On thing about Randy, at the age of 5, he always was taking things apart, clocks, vacuum cleaners then putting them back together again, he was always fascinated with machines. He loved working on engines from the early age of his muscle car, a 427 COPA Chevelle, doing the quarter mile racing at Hollywood Speedway. Once he fixed an engine for a friend’s boat down in the Keys. He even built an engine for a friend in the trucking business, a Peterbilt Truck and an engine featured in the “World of Wheels” magazine. He loved challenges, like moving a dragline off a mountain top that took 18 months that now sits at Rinker in Broward County today. Randy has been a resident of Lake Placid since 2014, moving here from Virginia, after retiring from Vulcan Materials Company with many years of employment as a heavy equipment service manager. Randy was of the Catholic faith who enjoyed fishing and boating on the local lakes, and hunting. He loved to be with family and friends whenever they could get together. Randy is survived by the love of his life of 52 years Christine, daughter; Tina Wolfcale-Krueger, sons; Jacob (Lucretia) and Justin (Kimberly), and two granddaughters; Cassidy and Megan. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at a later date with the family.
