Dorothea E. Widmer, 94, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Tuesday afternoon May 20, 2014 at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL. She was born on November of 1919 in Brooklyn, NY to parents Margaret (During) and William Foland Mooney. A retired executive secretary Mrs. Widmer worked for the founder of Truly Nolen Pest Control, The Miami Herald and a Law Firm. Mrs. Widmer has been a resident 0f Lake Placid for the past 40 years moving here from Miami. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Brooklyn and was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Widmer enjoyed drawing, designing greeting cards and knitting and loved to spend time with her beloved family and friends. Mrs. Widmer is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Alfred George Widmer. She is survived by her three loving daughters, Marion Widmer, Margaret E. Thompson (Michael) and Helen J. Williamson (Edwin); 7 grandchildren, Ed (Leonor), Fred, John and Stephen (Dimitra) Hagberg, Julie Bresset (John), Joy and Eddie Williamson and 9 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 10 until 11 AM Saturday (Today) May 24, 2014 with funeral services to follow at 11 AM at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Edwin Williamson officiating. Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
