IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris Elizabeth
Szybillo
December 11, 1926 – December 13, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Szybillo, age 94, shares that she passed away peacefully on Dec. 13, 2020 after a brave fight with the Covid virus. Doris was born on Dec. 11, 1926 in New York to Mae and Dean Stevens. After the death of her father, she was raised by her mom and devoted step-father Albert Kikel in Amityville NY. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Szybillo for 66 years. She was a loving and devoted mother to seven children: Patricia Mancuso (James) of Lake Placid, FL; Susan Donaldson of Lake Placid, FL; Judy Pfeiffer (Jeff) of Lititz, PA; Joanne McCarthy of Lindenhurst, NY; Margaret Broadhurst of Ruckersville, VA; William Szybillo (Robin) of Smithtown, NY and Catherine Walstrum (James) of West Milford, NJ. She was also a caring grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Doris and Joe lived in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York for most of their married life. Doris was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured each of her children, and always made each one feel special and loved. She had a knack for making the holidays memorable for family and friends. Singing was very important to her, and she would encourage even the most hesitant "soloist". Doris was active in the Mid Island Girl Scout Council, serving in several leadership roles including Neighborhood Chairperson. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed time at the beach and out on the water with her husband and family. Doris and Joe moved to Vero Beach, Florida for their retirement, spending many happy years enjoying friends, family, beach and boating. Services will be held at a future date in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Girl Scouts of the USA, St. Jude Children's Hospital, or a donation to your local library.
