Doris E. Richter, 89, of Lake Placid went to be with her Lord on Tuesday morning September 22, 2015 at the Lake Placid Health Care and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family. Doris was the daughter of Essie Beck and Robert Haney who was born on March 3, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan. Doris and her late husband Bill built a home in Islamorada where they enjoyed living on the ocean for many years before moving to Lake Placid in 2000. Doris was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Lake Placid as well as the Lake Placid Women's Club. Doris enjoyed volunteering at her church in the Manna Ministry. She spent most of her time with her family and friends. Mrs. Richter is preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years Bill. She is survived by her loving daughter Carol McNamara; son, Bill Richter III; daughter-in-law Cindy Richter; three grandchildren, Garrett, Grace and Gwyneth McNamara and two sisters, Joyce Barbour and Betty Graham. A service to celebrate the life of Doris will be held at a later date.
