Donald Reason Sr. left this earth to be with the love of his life on 5/10/24. Don was born in Elizabeth New Jersey in 1936. He met Marianne, the love of his life, while visiting her sister's boyfriend in the hospital. The two loved to travel and were able to travel the world together. They were happily married for 67 years until her passing 4 weeks prior to his.

Don worked for the New York Port Authority as a Safety Manager during the construction of the World Trade Center. While living in New Jersey,  he was a Volunteer Firefighter for many years and retired as Chief. He and Marianne moved to Miami after one of his Supervisors offered him a position at the Burger King Corporate Headquarters. There he worked as a Loss Control/Safety Manager until his first retirement shortly before a little storm named Hurricane Andrew hit and demolished the Burger King Headquarters building.  Don was then brought out of retirement as a consultant, and continued to work as a consultant until his actual retirement in the mid 2000s. Those who knew Don, knew him as a friendly, hardworking, jokester who was always willing to lend a hand or a tool to help someone out.  He loved volunteering and  volunteered for several organizations throughout Highlands County.

Don is preceded in death by his brother Freddy, his sister Gwen, his son Don Reason Jr., and of course, his life, Marianne Reason. He is survived by his daughter and son in law Cindi and Mark Hannon and his three grandsons, Ty, Trace, and Troy Hannon.  He and Marianne are now together forever.
