Donald E. Emond , 88, passed away peacefully with his son by his side in Lake Placid FL on May 2 nd 2023 . Donald was born in Eastham Massachusetts on April 8 th 1935. Married nearly 60 years to the late Harriet Frances (Freeman) o n September 19, 1963. Donald served in the United States Navy with a ranking Radio 2 nd class and sail ed a destroyer in the northwest pacific, a lthough he saw no active combat, his ship narrowly survive a typhoon resulting in dry dock and s hore duty until his discharge in 1958 . Donald attended agricultural school and worked in many trades, including with several electrical contractors , local electricians union , and for the last 30 years of his career he was self-employed as Emond Electric. Donald also gave back to his community, volunteer ing his services as a little league baseball umpire, helping with scouting events (pinewood & Klondike derbies ) , and as a member of the town of Eastham conservation board. His Friends knew him as a passionate outdoorsman and a longtime member of the Nauset Rod and Gun Cl ub. He loved his b lack l ab "Sam" , fishing & pleasure boating in Cape Cod Bay , Family- Sundays on the outer beach, ham radio operator and the camp in Maine on Huff Hill with the apple trees. Donald was a loving a nd dedicated husband who enjoyed a long retirement with his wife Harriet. Donald had a large personality and will be missed by his extended family; son D. Scott Emond & daughter in-law Cindy of Xenia Ohio , son Gary R. Brooke and daughter in-law Valerie of Brewster MA, Son Craig A. Brooke of Fra nklin MA, daughter Darlene Burke of Dennis Ma. Grandchildren David Brooke, Justin, Kyle & Aar on Brooke, Ashley Burk and numerous great grandchildren. Donald was one of 8 children and is survived by his sister Helen Casoli .
