Derediz Torres Vera, 76, of Lake Placid, FL passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his residence. Derediz was born on May 6, 1950, in Lares, Puerto Rico and he was the son of Maria Luisa Vera de Torres and Esteban Torres Rios. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 4 ½ years moving here from Boca Raton, FL. Derediz was a retired grounds keeper of a homeowners’ association and a farmer in Puerto Rico. He enjoyed spending time in nature, drinking his morning coffee, cooking, dancing, singing, and spending time with family and friends. Derediz loved connecting with people, impacting their lives, and lifted their spirits. He is survived by his loving wife, Mirta, daughter, Jacqueline Torres Ellison, sons, Derediz Torres Jr., Jademir Torres Vadell, six grandchildren, several sisters and brothers. A service to celebrate and reflect on Derediz’s life will be held at 2 PM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Scott Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
