Dennis Harold Whitaker, 64, was born as a miracle baby who with God's help and many
family and friends help he was allowed to have a very good life. Dennis was born on
October 31, 1949 in Avon Park, FL to parents Jean M. Whitaker and Wanda C. Sullivan.
Dennis passed away at his home March 18, 2014. Dennis joined the membership of the
First Baptist Church of Lake Placid in 1958 and joined the Thomas Memorial Baptist
Church in Quincy, FL July 2012. Dennis is preceded in death by his father Jean M.
Whitaker, of Lake Placid, mother, Wanda C. Sullivan of Sebring and his brother Gene
"Little Gene" Whitaker of Lake Placid. Dennis leaves behind his loving companion of
21 years Mildred Jackson of Quincy, FL; mother, Doris Whitaker of Lake Placid; a
daughter, Denise G. Whitaker of Ruskin, FL; a son, Dennis O. Whitaker of Lake Placid;
step daughters, Suzie and Nikta; sisters; Belinda Greer and Cathy Bays; a brother, Robert "Bobby" Whitaker (Betty); two step children, Paula Dooley (Jed) and Andy Reedy
(Jennifer); numerous grandchildren, nieces nephews and relatives and friends. Dennis
was very active within the family business, which mastered many different job skills.
While working with road construction he found his passion of truck driving, which that
encouraged him to have his own trucking business. Dennis loved life, fun and most of all his family. A visitation for family and friends will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday
evening March 21, 2014 (Today) at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd.,
Lake Placid. Funeral Services to Celebrate Dennis life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday
March 22, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Placid Lakes 116 Cleveland Avenue NE
Lake Placid with Pastor Ryan Barfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill
Cemetery.
