David M. Wigton, 65, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord surrounded by family on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Advent Health Sebring Hospital. David was born on January 16, 1957 in Florence, Alabama and was the son of Betty Howard, C.W. Wigton, and Bill Howard. David served his country in the United States Navy with twenty years of service with honors. He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 28 years after moving here from Oak Harbor, Washington. After moving here, David went to work at the Georgia-Pacific plant in Lake Placid until its closure then became a letter carrier with the US Postal Service and served the many residents of Lake Placid and Venus. David was of the Christian faith that enjoyed fishing the local lakes, gardening around the house, and following his favorite baseball and football teams. He loved to be with his family and friends anytime they could get together, especially spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. David is survived by the love of his life of 33 years Marie, daughter; Katelynne, sons; David and Jay, 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, sister; Julia and a brother; Dell. Preceded in death by sister; Pam. In Keeping with David's wishes, services to celebrate his life will be private for the family.
