Orson Shupp
February 2, 1949 – August 23, 2020
It is with heartfelt sadness that we advise of the unexpected passing of David Shupp,71, on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Sebring, Florida. Dave was born in Hagerstown, MD., on February 2, 1949. He was raised in Clearspring, MD. And was preceded in death by his parents, Paul K. Shupp and Dorothy J. (Grove) Shupp and infant sister, Donna. Dave was a 1967 graduate of Clearspring High School and later earned an Associate in Arts Degree as well as a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland in 1979. Dave proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1967-1971. While in the Marine Corps, Dave received many commendations and awards for his work as a Naval Avionics Technician while working on the F4J Aircraft. Dave was promoted to rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged. After serving in the Marine Corps, Dave worked at east Alcoa in Frederick, MD. for several years. Dave then took his military training and joined the Montgomery County Police Department in 1973. He was in the first session of the Montgomery County Police Academy. Dave served his entire 23 years in the Patrol Division at the Bethesda District in Bethesda, Maryland. While assigned there, he became a Breathalyzer Operator, Stationary Radar Operator, and served as a Field Training Officer. Dave and Linda (Krieger) Shupp met while working at the Montgomery County Police Department and later married in 1982. Dave retired in 1994 and in August of 2000, after Linda retired, they moved to Lake Placid, Florida. After building their house, Dave was able to continue to enjoy his love of bass fishing and boating. He also enjoyed hunting in Maryland with his lifetime best friend, Carl Myers of Hughesville, Pa. Dave and his wife Linda would have celebrated 38 years of marriage on September 12, 2020. Dave was a long time member of the American Legion Post 0222 in Clearspring, Maryland as well as the loyal Order of the Moose in Lake Placid, Florida. Dave was also a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Dave is survived by his loving wife Linda, two children he loved dearly, Daughter; Shannon Renee Shupp (Fawn Mullinix); Son; Shawn Paul Shupp (Susie Shupp); their mother, Donna Frazier; Grandson; Russell Messina Shupp, and Brother; Gerald Shupp. Dave will be laid to rest Thursday, September 10,2020 at 11:30 A.M. with full military honors at the Sarasota National Cemetery,9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, Fl. A Celebration of life will be held at the Clearspring American Legion in Clearspring, MD. on October 11, 2020 from 1-4pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Clearspring American Legion, Post 222, P.O. Box158, Clearspring, MD 21722
