Obituary

David Bruce Harris, 75, of Lake Placid, formerly of Weston, FL, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday evening, February 16, 2022. David was born on June 4, 1946 in Staten Island, New York, and was the son of Dorothy Ann (Schmidt) and Melvin Eugene Harris.  David served his country with honor in the United States Navy where he was a Sonar Technician.  He has been a resident of Lake Placid for the past 4 ½ years moving here from Palm Beach County. David graduated from St. Peter's University with a degree in business. He was a member of his college fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. David was a retired service manager with Johnson Controls and held a Florida Mechanical Contractors License for over 20 years. David was of the Catholic faith. David enjoyed many hobbies including recording and listening to music in his patch. He enjoyed watching the Miami Marlins, playing trivia games, telling jokes, tinkering, playing softball, eating good food, and being out on the lake with his kids.  He loved to be with his family and friends anytime they could get together, and especially loved time with his grandchildren.  David is survived by his wife, Maryann Harris. He is also survived by his children Kelley Cooper (Robert), Jaymie Seward, and David Harris (Katie). David leaves behind eight grandchildren Brandon, Brooke, Brodey, Mason, Ryan, Emma, Macy, and Wake. He leaves behind two brothers; Melvin and Brian Harris.  A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid with Pastor Richard Norris  officiating.  Burial and military honors will be presented by the US Navy Honor Guard at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota.
