David Lee Gorte, 61, of Lake Placid went to be with his Lord on Thursday afternoon March 20, 2014 while on a mission trip with his church in Guatemala. David was born on March 4, 1953 in Michigan to parents Arthella (Wyndiate) and Herman Gorte. David was a sales manager in the air conditioning industry who was active in both the Prison Ministries and Ironman Ministries in his church. David was an avid University of Michigan sports fan who enjoyed a good game of golf. David moved to Lake Placid in 2012 from West Palm Beach and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid. He loved spending time with his family and friends. David is survived by his loving wife of 26½ years Lynda; daughter, Jessica Gorte; son, David Lee Gorte Jr.; two sisters, Shirley Ann and Sharon; two brothers, Tim and Robert. A memorial service to celebrate David's life will be held 3:30 PM Wednesday March 26, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Placid 118 N. Oak Avenue Lake Placid with Rev. Ray Cameron officiating.
