Daniel Francis Scanlon 87, of Lake Placid went home to his Lord Thursday, August 15, 2024.  Born October 30, 1936 to Clotilde and Bernard Scanlon of Union City, New Jersey.  He was a Manager of the printing process of the Virginian Pilot Newspaper in Virginia Beach, VA. for 30 years.  After retirement he moved to Moyock, NC where is was actively raising horses and other animals for many years.  He was a devoted member of The Sons of the Confederacy, attending many battlefield reenactments for years some on actual horseback. He moved to Lake Placid in 2016 after becoming widowed and reconnected with his high school sweetheart Grayle, they were married in 2016, a true love story.  Dan is survived by his daughter, Kathy Albright and Son, Daniel F. Scanlon, Jr. Sister, Diane Bruns.  Grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Jake Albright, Danielle Enriquezes and Kaitlyn Alcock, Greatgrandchildren, Ian Alcock, Aiden Alcock, Payton Baker, Sloan Baker and Quinn Baker.  Dan was always smiling, a very happy man, he had an infectious smile that would light up the room.  He adored his family and was one the "good guys". He is smiling and no longer suffering, he loved and was loved in return.   A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Daniel's life will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the St. James Catholic Church 3380 Placid View Drive, Lake Placid with Father Vincente Clemente officiating.  Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lake Placid, Florida
