Daniel V. Kinder Sr., 98, of Lake Placid went home to be with his Lord on Friday afternoon, June 2, 2023 at the Royal Care of Avon Park. Daniel was born on December 2, 1924 in Charleston, West Virginia and was the son of Tina (Miller) and Lee Kinder. Daniel served his country with honors in the Pacific during WWII as an aviation mechanic in the United States Marine Corps. After his service to his country, Dan went to work as a truck driver for Safeway Stores Inc, retiring after 42 years with a perfect safe driving record.  On August 8, 1947 Dan married the love of his life Doris Geneva Kinder (Clark) of whom he was married to for 73 years before her passing two years ago. Dan enjoyed the outdoors; hunting, fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay as well as gardening and wildlife, particularly feeding birds, rabbits, squirrels and deer. Dan had been a resident of Lake Placid for eight years after moving here from Inwood, West Virginia after the strong encouragement from his sons. Dan is survived by his two loving sons; Daniel V. Kinder Jr. (Jeannie), Martin Wayne Kinder (Sharon), five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 14, 12:30 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery with Pastor Don Roberts officiating. A service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held at a later date in Lake Placid.
