Daniel B. Childs "Dan" 90, of, Lake Placid passed away Saturday afternoon May 22, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Childs was born in Los Angeles, CA on May 9, 1920 to parents Harold Winthrop and Elizabeth Graham (McNaughton) Childs. He served his country in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Childs moved to Lake Placid in 1968 from Alamosa, CA. A member with the National Cattlemen's Association, Past President of the Florida Cattlemen's Association and Past President and Board Member of the Highlands County Cattlemen's Association, US Animal Health Association and the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church. Mr. Childs is preceded in death by his first wife; Anita and son Thomas. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Trudy, daughter; Sharon Childs Parker of CA, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday May 27, 2010 from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Scott Funeral Home 504 W. Interlake Blvd., Lake Placid. Funeral Services 9:30 AM Friday May 28, 2010 at the St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, 43 Lake June Road Lake Placid with Pastor Elizabeth Myers officiating. Burial will follow with Veterans Honors at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lake Placid. The family suggest donations in Mr. Childs memory be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Building Fund.
