Clare Halpin, 82, of Lake Placid, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 15, 2024. She was surrounded by her family and the love she had cultivated throughout her life. Clare is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Garth) Brewer, Susan Halpin, and Janet (Michael) Surtees, along with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister Patricia (Richard) Digenan, brother-in-law Edward Page, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Clare was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Patrick Halpin; her parents, Patrick and Margaret (McKeigue) Nugent; her sisters, Sister Mary Nugent, Eleanor (Maynard) Seidmon, Betty (Edward) Page, Margaret Nugent; and her brother-in-law Richard Digenan.
Born on December 27, 1941, in London, England, Clare moved to Chicago, Illinois, at the age of eight, where she grew up and found her true sense of home. One of Clare's earliest and closest friends was Noreen ("Noni") Halpin, who introduced Clare to her future husband, Patrick. Clare and Pat were married on January 7, 1961, beginning a lifetime of shared love, family, and friendship.
Clare was dedicated to her family but also pursued her own ambitions. After raising her daughters, she earned a Business degree from DePaul University, demonstrating her commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.
In their later years, Clare and Pat retired to Lake Placid, Florida, where they became beloved members of the Lake Shore Tower II community. They spent their days surrounded by wonderful friends and neighbors, sharing evening get-togethers, holiday meals, and countless stories filled with music and laughter.
Clare will be remembered for her kind spirit, sharp wit, and the love she generously shared with everyone who knew her. She had a passion for crossword puzzles and was known for her skill at Scrabble. Clare also loved dancing and often shared that joy with her grandchildren, creating treasured memories filled with laughter and fun. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
